This shifter utilizes a dedicated 1-2-3-4 pattern with a true neutral available between every gear, offering distinct advantages for drag racing and heavy track use:
- Easy Roll-Outs: You can easily bump the shifter out of 4th gear directly into neutral to coast smoothly after a high-speed run.
- Downshift Protection: The mechanism makes it physically impossible to accidentally drop into neutral when aggressively downshifting into 1st gear.
- Independent Reverse Lever: To keep the primary sequential mechanism as robust, simple, and reliable as possible, reverse is selected using a dedicated secondary lever.
- Short Throw Action: Fast, crisp gear changes with a tight 70mm (2.75″) throw.

Fitment Notes
Because Muncie transmissions were produced over many years with multiple variations, you must verify your specific rear housing before ordering.
- The 410 mm check: This shifter is designed to fit all Muncie boxes that measure exactly 410mm from the front of the main transmission housing to the front upper-most shifter mounting hole.
- Housing ID: The mechanism was specifically designed around the 3831731 rear housing casting, though any housing matching the 410mm measurement will be fully compatible.
