Description
Gear position sensor
Gear position sensor to suit our sequential shifters.
This sensor uses a modern hall effect it needs a 5v supply and will output a voltage between 0-5v depending on the position of the magnet inside the shifter. This magnet was factory fitted.
You cannot read the position of the sensor with resistance on a multimeter you will need to use the voltage setting with a 5v supply connected to the sensor.
Wiring colours are :
White/blue or Green = Ground
White/Yellow or orange = 5V supply in
White/White = Signal out
Any voltage over 5.5 V will break the sensor, wiring this incorrectly will also break the sensor.
If you use this to read gear position on a digital dash you will also need an input from the reverse switch on the gearbox as 1st and reverse are on the same position on this sensor.
** These sensors will not work with gear indicators sold before July 2022, those sensors clipped the signal by about 0.5V at each end. The current sensors go all the way from 0- supply voltage in output , We can no longer supply the earlier version due to the chip shortage **

Looks fantastic, let’s hope it’ll do better than the previous one…
